“One thing the Human Design System does rather well is to offer a few places to stand to look at yourself in a somewhat objective fashion. This is not an easy thing to do. For example,
Swimming beneath the surface of the ocean, my view of what constitutes the ocean is somewhat limited. Surfing the waves, my view is much different. Standing on the shore my view of the ocean is again different, as it is if I stand on a hill high above. If I row around in a glass-bottomed boat, I see yet other aspects. And, of course, a microscope offers a significantly different view.
To some extent, my own personal appreciation of Human Design is due to this built-in range of potential views of the ocean that constitutes myself and others. It offers multiple layers of complexity and dynamics for pursuing self-observation or observation of others. And maybe even compassionate understanding of others.”
Thoughts on the Defined, Undefined & Open Centers
A major tenet of the Human Design System is that the undefined and open centers play critical roles in our behavioral processes. While the defined channels, centers, and gates are in constant operation because they are hardwired, the behaviors in the open and...
The ‘No Choice’ Paradigm: Freedom and Human Design
NO CHOICE - Fact or Fiction? In the 'No Choice' paradigm, this discussion has taken place millions of times over thousands of years to no avail. It’s never resolved. First, I always try to remember that anything said about this subject is pure speculation – meaning...

The Defined Mind: Brain vs Mind Decoded
FIRST, IT'S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE BRAIN AND MIND ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS (BEFORE WE DELVE INTO THE DEFINED MIND). The Brain The brain is a physical organ. Of the many theories I have read about the mind, I prefer the one that describes the mind as a map...
The Zen of ‘Do Without Doing’: What It Truly Means
Do without doing means exactly that. We get so attached to consciously, deliberately doing. We start trying to do this or that. For example, we focus on trying to be a generator or a projector, or any number of aspects in our chart – profile, channels, gates, lines,...
Bridges of Being: The Integration Channels in Human Design
When you examine the six Rave circuits, you will notice that four channels are “missing”. They don’t appear in any of the circuits. These are the integration channels. Most of the channels are created by 2 gates that are directly opposite each other in different...
